Our environmental workshop series is for those individuals who want to learn more about what they can do for the environment; prefer a presentation format; and cannot attend a set of consecutive green team meetings.  Our goal for 2006 is to host one workshop series each quarter (every three months).  Each series has six workshops with each workshop focusing in depth on one of the following resource topic areas: solid waste, water, energy, household chemicals, transportation, and community action. 

Because we are in the business of both education and behavior change, we are still experimenting with the workshop format on how better to follow-up with attendees to see if they implemented what they learned at the workshop (i.e., did they install the low flow showerhead given out for free at the workshop?)

• Solid waste workshops topics: Preventing waste, reducing junk mail, shopping for low impact, reuse, recycling, composting, greening events, etc.
• Water workshop topics: Water supply, quality, usage, pollution, conservation and saving money
• Energy workshop topics: Energy production, renewable/alternative energy, usage, pollution, conservation & saving money
• Household Chemicals workshop topics: Safe alternatives, product labels -- what to look out for; make your own non-toxic cleaning supplies; proper disposal of hazardous products; why one should consider organics, which produce have high & low pesticide residue; which fish are OK to eat, saving money, etc. 
• Transportation workshop topics: Sustainable growth, emissions, alternative fuels, mass-transit options, conservation, & saving money
• Community involvement workshop topics: Other local groups helping the environment, discussion about your specific community and your visions for it, actions of other communities around the US, sustainable city plan, etc.
