For those of you that are into the numbers, here is an excel spreadsheet to help you with the transportation audit. Remember, no cheating. Fill out the before sheet before you take any transit actions. This will also give you the best before and after numbers.

511 Rideshare for Bay Area Commuters can match you up with others that want to share a ride - carpool, Van pool, bike ride or bike/carpool. You can match for the whole week or just one day; whatever works best for you. They have info on carpools to BART and even carpools for skiing. Check it out.

Employer Ride share information Rides also has information for employers to promote ride sharing and what incentives are available.

East Bay Casual Carpooling East Bay commuters use casual carpools to make use of carpool lanes and cross the Bay bridge for free. Check the web site for pick up and drop off points

Greenbelt Alliance Outings Greenbelt outings are hikes, bike rides and tours that provide a fun way to become acquainted with Bay Area open space. They also offer tours of urban areas that showcase good examples of infill development, affordable housing, transit-oriented development, and urban revitalization in existing Bay Area communities.

City Carshare Car-sharing allows you to use a car when you need it without incurring the fixed costs of ownership. City CarShare provides a network of vehicles parked in neighborhoods throughout San Francisco, the East Bay, and the Peninsula.

Zipcar- Locations are in Boston, Chapel Hill, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York/New Jersey, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, DC. Rent a car for the day, or for an hour.

Federal Transit Administration- one of eleven modal administrations within the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Federal government, through the FTA, provides financial assistance to develop new transit systems and improve, maintain, and operate existing systems.

American Public Transportation Association-"APTA is the leading force in advancing public transportation."

 Transportation Research Board of the National Academies-"The mission of the Transportation Research Board—one of six major divisions of the National Research Council—is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through research."

International Center for Technology Assessment- "a non-profit, bi-partisan organization committed to providing the public with full assessments and analyses of technological impacts on society."

Take transit to Recreation Leave the car at home and take transit to your favorite place. This web site lists popular destinations for recreation that you can get to on public transit for residents in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Transportation and Land Use Coalition TALC is a partnership of over 90 groups working for a sustainable and socially just Bay Area (San Francisco)

First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization -Site for the MPO of the Jacksonville Metro area, including all of Duval, major portions of Clay, St. Johns, and Nassau Counties.

Spare the Air Good information about air pollution, its health effects, pollution prevention, personal clean air tips, and a variety of other educational resources. You can also sign up for notification of Spare the Air days and what to do about them.

Bay Area Air Quality Management District The BAAQMD has more information than you will ever want to know about air quality and regulations in the Bay Area.

Vehicle Buy Back Program One of the best ways to clean up the air is to get rid of the worst offenders, older cars. If your car is a 1985 or older model in working condition you may be able to get $650 for it from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Follow the above link to find out more.
